WELCOME

Welcome.
I am Alicia Crowe, a New York-based Jazz Artist and Cultural Cabaret Storyteller, and creator of The Bright Light District, a cultural experience rooted in the living history of African American music that uncovers the hidden histories and human stories behind the music and leaves audiences with something more than a good song.
Most recently, I performed Blue Notes and Sunny Skies: A Journey of the Heart at the reopening of the Englewood Public Library's main floor concert series during Jazz Appreciation Month 2026, to a full house, a standing ovation, and a waiting list. The concert was listed on WBGO Jazz 88.3's concert calendar.
The Bright Light District is where music, memory, culture, reclamation, and imagination meet.
I hope to see you at a show.

A Tribute to Alberta Hunter
In her Triad debut, Alicia Crowe pays musical tribute to blues jazz legend Alberta Hunter. Hunter’s career spanned six decades as she overcame obstacles and broke racial barriers to become one of the first African American singers to make the transition from performing in lowly brothels to becoming the “toast of royalty and international society.”
Join Alicia as she takes you on a historic musical journey through the origins and early development of America’s classical music (commonly known as jazz). Setting the scene in the 1920’s, Alicia takes you to some of the most famous ballrooms, cabarets, nightclubs and theaters while paying tribute to Alberta and other composers and performers of this magical era.
With her sassy, smooth sultry contralto tones and her playful swing and witty humor, she recreates the “Bright Light District.”
Featuring: Takaaki Otomo, on Piano, Noriko Ueda, on Bass, George Gray on Drums
